The first of these chakras is the Root Chakra which in Sanskrit is Muladhara or foundation. This chakra is located at the base of the spine and can affect the legs, arms, spine, rectum, and circulatory system. It is associated with the sense of community, family, and tribe. It affects how safe or secure we feel, and how grounded. It can affect our sense of self and sense of belonging. When the root chakra is balanced, we feel higher sense of security, we tend to be more confidence. There is more of a sense of wellness and inner strength which can also manifest as outer strength. People with a healthy root chakra also tend to be happier at work and more satisfied with career choices. When this chakra is unbalanced, it can lead to feelings of being unsafe, insecurity, issues with anxiety, and being in constant survival mode. Luckily, there are thi
ngs we can do to ensure that our root chakra stays balanced. We can wear gemstones that help balance this chakra like obsidian, tigers eye, calcite, Red or black jasper, quartz, magnetite, onyx, certain opals, ruby, garnet, hematite, carnelian, certain agates, red topaz, pink apatite, red aventurine, red, black, or grey jade, kyanite, tourmaline, or smokey quartz, to name a few. We can drink teas that help with this chakra like dandelion tea, cinnamon, ginger, sage (earthy teas). Most read or brown earthy teas can help with this chakra. There are also scents that help balance this chakra. Some of these are Cedarwood, Frankincense, Black Pepper, Patchouli, Spikenard, Vetiver, Sandalwood, cypress. Foods that help support this chakra include carrots, potatoes, peanut butter, peanuts. Chives, pepper, peppers, paprika (earthy (root) foods).
We can do grounding exercises, light earthy incense, use crystal therapy, meditation, or just go to the park or forest, sit at the base of a tree with your back to the tree and bare feet in the dirt. Close your eyes and breathe…in four, out eight. Relax, reconnect, and ground ourselves
